Black is the new in
Bought black sesame with honey spread during Isetan fair. Yummy! It is definitely something different from the usual spread and healthier too! The only down side is that the price is kind of steep - $10 a bottle.

National Day
Spend the national day with Alvin.
Started off with a drive around the site of our BTO area. Building progress not very fast. Still at 2-3 storey.
Then we went for lunch at famous laksa at Yishun. Already been there for a few times. This was one of the few days where there is long queue at the stall. Usually there is also queue, but not as long. Anyway the queue was moving fast, so not much of a issue.
I seated right in front of the stall as it is the only empty table. So I got the chance to observe the patrons and the workers. The preparation area is quite spacious behind. A few people prepares the orders. Ocassionally there will be a lady coming out from behind getting orders from the queue.
The stall owners are also very thoughtful to separate the gravy and the noodles for those having takeaways. They commented that this is because the noodles will not be soggy.
Yums, the long awaited noodles. I like mine with yellow noodles or mixed with beehoon. But usually if I am not the one ordering, I will make my order simplier so as not to trouble people.
This got to be the most flavourful laksa I ever had. Thick and fragrant gravy compliments the noodles perfectly. I always thought laksa don't match well with thick beehoon cos there is "no taste". I think the yellow noodles added a tinge of saltiness to the overall taste.
Spend the day catching up with dramas and met up with Terence & wife for dinner at Western Bar. The tv is showing NDP parade and I thought I would have a chance to emerse in NPD atmosphere in Singapore by participating in nationwide plegde taking or something as the previous national days was spend overseas. I envisioned that the whole Singapore will pause at certain time and recite pledge together or what. But well, it is not what I had imagined. lolz. Totally skipped the moment.
Totally forgot to take photos of the food we had. But overall, the food are not bad. Its the usual hangout for the guys, so I think I would have chances to take photos in future.

Rewatching the classics
Recently when people asked me what drama I am watching now, I would sheepishly reply that I am rewatching the 还珠格格 series. And all will give me the -_- look. This show is certainly a epic classic that I would be touched no matter how many times I watched it. I've got to admit that 琼瑶 is a very good writer. The thing about rewatching it now is that you could fast forward the parts that you do not like since I have already watched it before and I know the whole story, so no harm in skipping parts.
The best part I like revolves around 紫薇 and 尔康. I always watch in awe beliving in the possibility of such intense love and understanding of each other. It feels too good to be true.
Second part is definately better than first installment. The cast is prettier and more charming. But more draggy with the addition of the 香妃.
I skipped 3rd part totally as the majority of the casts are changed. The 2 female leads changed and somehow the series is just not the same anymore. Of the 4 leads in the show, only 尔康 remains. What a pity actually. Not a perfect competion to the show.
So now, I am catching the remake of the 还珠格格 ironically named 新还珠格格. I thought it will be totally revamp of the storyline like it would be a continuation of story from their children. But it ended up to have the same storyline but with some minor additions to the story. The drama seems to be of a different era from the previous. The headgear is smaller and different (more towards 步步惊心 type) and the era is more acceptable to westerners. So you guessed it. The revamped version has a addition of a westerner who works in the palace as a painter. Furthermore, to my surprise, the emperess is HK actress 邓翠雯. I found the actress looks familiar, but I did not expected it to be her until I googled. Ruby Lin had a guest appearance in the show as 夏雨何.
I'm speed watching the show. Generally, the show follows very very closely to the previous works but it is slightly faster paced than the previous. Though I'm already at the tenish episode of the show, I have difficulty differentiating 尔康 and 尔泰. They somehow looks the same. Perhaps because I am not very familiar with China actors so they tend to look the same to me. As I continued to watch the show, I am consistently comparing the previous series with the current.
For now, I concluded the previous version is better.

Uniform attraction
Recently started to watch the Hong Kong drama <<On call 36 hours>>. I've only at the 3rd episode and the show depicts the job of doctors. One of the scene a director told a group of new housemen - Being a doctor is not the most easy job in the world. The job is not like normal officer workers who work 9 to 5. Instead, each shift is 36 hours and even have to come back during offs.
I guess this is part and parcel of a job of a doctor. Once you have decided to become a doctor, this is the cycle that one has to go through. A doctor is just a job. But this job has much more at stake than normal office workers. I guess this would be part of what it justifies as their pay scale - risk.
I like to watch dramas that relates to uniform groups. For example, police, fire fighters and doctors. I feel that these dramas provides a insight on how each job is like. Even though I cannot be part of them in reality, i can know how is it like to hold these as a job.
If fitness permits, I had always wanted to join the police. Formerly part of NPCC, I feel so full of pride and proud of the force whenever i don the uniform. I liked that kind of feeling. However, reality and dreams are different. Perhaps I should explore towards joining the force as a civilian. Friend D had chosen to join the force this year. Fitness poses no issues for him. I'm just amazed of his courage to join the force at the age of 26 which was considered quite old as he mentioned that he is one of the older few in his cohort.
Now, I am at the crossroads of my career after finishing my degree studies. What should I do now? I've been asked what I want to do for a few times already. So what do I want to do? Leave the comfort zone and explore my interests or stay within the comfort zone with the nice colleauges but doing things I have not much interests in?

New Phone for the New Year
Happy Chinese New Year!!
For this new year, I've gotten myself a new phone! Yay. Yippee.
Its the Galaxy Note.
Wheet! I eventually gotten Note instead of iPhone 4S mainly because of it's size and also to try something new since there are many good reviews on the phone. The size doesn't pose a problem to me. In fact, I like it big because I could view a wider screen to surf net, play games, whatsapp etc. Also, I don't put my phone in my pocket, so this is no issue to me at all.
So far so good with my phone. I find it of reasonable speed and not slow at all compared to iOS 5 on a 3GS. Much much much better.
Fiddling and still exploring the phone. The games selection is not as wide as iPhone's but still reasonably ok. Tried watching video on the phone and its great! Big screen! And transferring file over is a breeze!
The minus point could be that you can't really write a sms/message single-handed due to it's size. Well, unless you have longgggg fingers. Yea, longer than mine, that is.
I'm waiting for the screen protector to arrive from Gmarket. Hope nicer casing for Galaxy note will be out soon. The current ones are so ugly!

Look back on 2011
2011 is going to end soon in few hours time and as usual it is time to reflect on what we have done for the year.
To me, 2011 is a year where I spend a awfully alot amounts of money. Bad.. Its to a stage where I began to wonder if its worthwhile to spend so much in the first place.
2011 is also the year where I go heavier T.T Sad. Sign of eating too much and not moving as much.
On a happier note, I have participated in my first 10km nike run. (Speaking of which, I still haven't received my souvenirs and voucher..). This month, more people appreciate my bake wares and I established my own business. LOL. If you counted it as business. Friends and colleagues ordered cookies from me. Learning on managing the expenses and keep track on the accounts and orders.
2011 is also a year where Alvin and I understand each other more and saving towards our future. Yay.
2012 will be the year I will be looking forward to.

Childhood food!
One fine day when I was staying late for work and after dinner with colleagues, I chanced upon this snack when I had it when I was very young. AK had randomly asked for the name of this snack and I suddenly wanted to eat it.
cheap cheap! Nice and airy, eat already don't feel like you have eaten anything.
Another colleague gave me a box of cakes for the full month of his baby girl. So sweet!
Aren't these cakes old school and bring up alot of fond memories?

Humans are very strange creatures
The title explains it all.
The more we know we are not supposed to do something, the more we will go and do it.
I have exams later at the evening and I am now blogging. Ahh..

Random thoughts
I was doing some random surfing and blog hopping/shopping in between reading the online study units for my exams.
I came to realise that there are a lot of bloggers blooming in this Gen Y era. Why? Maybe because that we want to stand out from others, the individualism in us, trying to be noticed or just simply an outlet for us to pen out our thought and feelings.
I remembered the reason when I started blogging many years ago when I was in secondary school is because it seems cool to have an online persona, nobody knows who's who unlike now everyone posted their photos openly over the net. Being quite an early adopters for computer and internet usage, my sis and I is always brainwashed by my parents saying internet is a very dangerous thing, and keep tell us never to show any information of ourselves over the net. We were told that there are a lot of baddies out there..blah blah blah..
Sometimes this just got me thinking whether to just set the blog as private and then I can upload photos of myself etc etc. But sometimes there is this thought that I want to type for a group audience whether you know me or not.
I've grew up reading other random blogs and then xiaxue (yaya bimbo), not that she is very old, just that I'm followed her blog almost from the very beginning when she started blogging and I am amazed at how someone can actually earn a living from just blogging alone. So nice, you know. Just type something and you get paid.
Again, not many people knew I had a blog. I don't really intend to publicize it. Contradicting, I know. But sometimes its the knowledge that there is someone I know reads my blog that give me the motivation to blog. You know, share things I feel worth sharing.
For now, I will try to blog more and who knows I might join a blogging community. Ha. Ha. Take this as a platform to improve my writing skills without all the singlish. :)
To all of you who reads my blog, drop a comment or msn me once in a while to let me know you are still reading!
Cheers.
